Council, Coldbusters & Citizens Advice Bureau are there to help you
The council is working with Coldbusters and the Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) to offer advice and practical help to local people to cut fuel bills.
The CAB will be holding advice sessions at Asda Clapham Junction on Thursday January 30 between 10am and 3pm as part of the national Big Energy Saving Week campaign, Go along to speak to experts about switching providers and find out about ways to save money and get extra help with bills. There’s no need to book a slot – just turn up.
Meanwhile the council is teaming up with Coldbusters to help people better insulate their home and so lower their bills. They will offer help to home owners and people who privately rent their homes to install energy-saving measures such as cavity wall and loft insulation, replace old boilers and improving heating system controls.
Studies show these measures could save around £600 a year.
The improvements are free for those on, or who are eligible for, Pension Credit or Child Tax Credit who have an income of £15,860 or less. People on several other benefits are also eligible. To find out if you qualify call 0800 358 6668 and quote “Wandsworth Grants”.
Environment spokesman Jonathan Cook said:
“We know that some families are struggling with fuel bills, and we are taking practical measures to help them. We hope as many people take advantage of all the information and support available to keep the cost of heating their homes as low as possible.”
