A-level Results Improve Again

Wandsworth schools buck the national trend

Provisional results for 2012 show that a quarter of students achieved A*-A grades - up from 23 per cent last year. Nationally this figure dropped by 0.4 percentage points.

The pass rate at A*-C was 74 per cent - up almost half a percentage point on last year.

Students from Chestnut Grove and Graveney did exceptionally well, with the proportion of A*-A grades at both increasing by more than five percentage points. Graveney achieved 128 A* grades, compared to 94 in 2011, and 85 per cent of students received an A* to C grade, up from 78 per cent last year.

Saint Cecelia's students achieved a 100 per cent pass rate, with result up across the board. The A*-C pass rate was 74 per cent, and the A*-A rate is up five percentage points from last year to 27 per cent.

StudenAugust 21, 2012the BTEC - also did well. Almost half of students at Southfields Community College that took the exam received a distinction, as did 46 per cent of students at Ernest Bevin, 42 per cent at Chestnut Grove and 35 per cent at Battersea Park .

The provisional figures will be finalised when the council receives validated results in November.
