|Finalists For South West London's Top Pubs|
Local pubs among CAMRA's shortlist
Eight pubs have been selected as the finalists for the South West London Pub of the Year, run by the Campaign for Real Ale.
Among the top eight are pubs in Wimbledon, Wandsworth and Putney, and the winner will now be picked by a ballot of 1,400 local CAMRA members.
The list includes previous winners, such as the Bricklayers Arms (left) in Waterman Street, Putney, which went on to be named the best CAMRA pub in Greater London in 2009.
There are two pubs in Wimbledon on the list - The Sultan, a Hop Back brewery pub in Norman Road, South Wimbledon, which is also a previous winner. The Hand in Hand, a Youngs brewery pub off Wimbledon Common, is also in the final. Both are pictured below.
The Wandsworth finalists are the Grapes (below left) in Fairfield Street and Le Gothique in the Royal Patriotic Building (below right) on John Archer Way.
They are competing against the Eagle Ale House in Chatham Road, Battersea; the Falcon in St Johns Hill, Battersea, and the Nightingale in Nightingale Lane, Balham.
The winner will be announced at the Battersea Beer Festival on the afternoon of Thursday February 10, 2011. As usual, the current title holder, The Trafalgar in High Path, South Wimbledon, is not eligible to enter this year.
