I'm very sorry to hear this. I remember Tom Cox from many years ago as someone who did not put on airs and graces and listened. When I worked at Wandsworth Council for Community Relations, he was invited to a social event in our offices as the guest of honour. At one point in the evening I was clearing plates, etc with the intention of washing them in our kitchen. I found Tom Cox, with a tea towel round his waist, already at the sink. When I protested that he was the guest of honour, he admitted to being embarrassed about that and preferred to be seen as just another attendee. I wish all MPs followed his lead.
