Putney hosts the friendliest school in Britain according to the Friends Reunited website. Elliott School topped the list of secondary schools whose former pupils stay in touch the most.

The website compiled a list of the top 200 schools with the friendliest former pupils after analysing the number of messages sent between its active members, which number more than 11 million.

Headteacher, Tony Willis, said:

"This is fantastic news and will confirm with staff, students, parents and the wider community, both past and present, that the positive ethos we work hard at maintaining lives on with anyone that has a connection with Elliott school long after they have ceased that direct contact."

More than 1,300 students attend the school, which has 85 teaching staff and counts James Bond actor Pierce Brosnan among its alumni.

What makes a School friendly? The owners of Friends Reunited website responded:

"We're not sure, but feedback from members suggests it has a lot to do with great teachers and the environment they created. "
