Corn Snake On The Commons

No fear as harmless but be warned

There is a completely harmless but rather large (1.6m) Corn snake roaming the Barnes Common at the moment - it may now be on Putney Common.

The theory is that it is most likely an abandoned domestic pet, and for the time-being is probably perfectly happy feeding on rats and mice. However, come the colder months it won't be happy at all, and if you do see it the Friends of Barnes Common would be keen for you to let them know.

If you come across the snake please leave it alone and call 07720 385 753 to report your sighting. The Friends of Barnes Common are working with a local exotic animals vet to recapture it and find its owner or a new good home.
