A New Style Of Kids Fitness Comes To Earlsfield

CrossFit Bold offers a new, fun way to get fit and healthy

Strength and conditioning gym, CrossFit Bold, will be offering children in the Earlsfield area an opportunity to try a new, fun way to get fit and healthy. Aimed at children between 3 and 17 years old, the programme combines gymnastics, body-weight movements and weightlifting elements.

The trainers at CrossFit Bold will be using functional fitness training techniques to educate the children about the importance of functional movement and more importantly to have fun while exercising. The 30-60 minute sessions teach children efficient movement mechanics focusing on balance, speed, agility and spatial awareness, key elements during their years of peak development.

Marlo Kinnear, Programme Director at CrossFit Bold, says: “The CrossFit Kids programme aims to pair fitness with fun which will hopefully create a lifelong love of health and fitness for the children. We have three different programmes catering for different ages and we have already seen some great results from children on the programme.”

The three age levels are pre-school sessions aimed at 3-5 years and focussed around game play, kids sessions aimed at 5-12 years old and focussed on learning functional movements and teen sessions aimed at 13-17 years old and will focus on technique work, short workouts and introducing how to lift weights safely.

“The great thing about the children sessions are that they have so much fun and don’t realise they are working hard and getting fitter. Recent studies have indicated that some children leave junior schools not knowing how to jump or throw. Our programme teaches the children basic movements such as running, jumping and throwing; skills used in everyday life. With child obesity on the rise, we also hope that we can educate children on the importance of making fitness part of their lives,” says Marlo Kinnear.
