Ex Southfields Councillor Accused Of Bullying Aide

Lucy Allan MP accused of 'vicious' abuse of sick staff member

Former Wandsworth Councillor Lucy Allan became MP for Telford in the 2015 General Election having been a Wandsworth Councillor until February 2012.

The Evening Standard has heard phone messages from Ms Allan in which she rants at a female staffer on sick leave — describing her absence as “pathetic”, telling her she “pissed around on my life” and accusing her of having an “alcohol problem”.

The 26 year old aide Arianne Plumbly, worked on Ms Allan’s election campaign before joining her team when 51 year old Ms Allan became an MP in May. She said that she had received no sympathy from Conservative officials after complaining to the party about the MP’s behaviour. A spokesman for the party said that the complaints were dealt with appropriately and sympathetically.

Ms Allan told the Evening Standard:
“Arianne Plumbly was dismissed . . . for gross misconduct following misuse of the parliamentary email system, persistent unauthorised absenteeism, refusal to follow a reasonable instruction and rudeness.”

The Southfields ward by-election in 2012 followed the controversial resignation of Cllr Lucy Allan after "she was refused old job back because of depression".
