6th Form Students at Ark Putney Academy Celebrate
Record-breaking number off to Oxbridge, Russell Group and Top third Universities
Thanh is celebrating an amazing set of results with A*A*AA
Students from a local Wandsworth school are celebrating their results day with a record-breaking number off to Oxbridge, Russell Group and Top third Universities this September.
Three quarters are going to top ranking Universities. The majority are leaving London to great destinations including Cambridge, Exeter, Nottingham, Surrey and Sussex with a smaller number choosing London’s great universities including UCL, Kings, Brunel and Queen Mary.
Maths student Thanh (pictured above) is one of the students celebrating an amazing set of results with A*A*AA in Maths, Further Maths, Physics & Chemistry. Having joined the 6th form from Vietnam with little English, he has gone from strength to strength and is the first of all his classes. He now holds a place at University College London to study Maths this September.

Principal Alison Downey said “It is hugely rewarding to see our students taking up so many competitive places at top ranking Universities this year. We are very proud of them all, they have demonstrated a great deal of resilience over the last 6 months in these extraordinary circumstances which will undoubtedly stand them in good stead for the next chapter of their lives.
When we first met student Lia Lothian (pictured above)in 2018 she was celebrating a top set of GCSE results, taking her into the 6th form to study Geography, English Literature and Psychology. Today she scoops up A*A*A and a place at Cambridge University to study Geography. She is the first of her family to attend University. She says: ‘I couldn’t have done this without the driving force of the teachers behind me. The school’s Oxbridge programme helped me realise my potential and really gave me the skills and expertise needed to win a place at Cambridge".
Ark Putney is a non-selective mixed Academy with a Sixth Form situated in Putney Heath just 5 minutes from Putney High Street. There are still places available for external applicants to the Sixth Form. Go to arkputney.org for more information.
