Calling Local Artists - Find Out More About New Grants Available

Drop in sessions to inform local arts groups of what's available

The council is offering local arts groups and artists a range of grants to promote and showcase their work as part of its ongoing programme of supporting the arts in Wandsworth.

The grants are designed to support applicants from all areas of the arts, including visual and performance art, community celebrations and outdoor art.

Staff in the arts team will also be hosting two forthcoming drop-in sessions where groups and individuals can find out more about the grants, what they cover and how to apply.

Culture spokesman Cllr Jonathan Cook said:
“The council very much values the arts and the role they play in enriching the cultural life of the borough. We fully recognise just what a valuable role they can play in making Wandsworth a brighter and better place to live.”

Four new grants have been created.
The Cultural Capacity Grant, worth upto £10,000 a year, will support an individual cultural organisation that is based in the borough and will be used to develop their fundraising capacity and future sustainability. This may include contributing to the cost of a fundraiser, training for existing fundraising staff, or to support the development of new fundraising / income streams. The next deadline for applications for this fund is June 2.
Project Arts Grants. These grants, of up to £5,000, will continue to be utilised for professional artists and arts organisations to present ambitious, high quality projects which often involve partnership working. The next deadline for these applications is April 28.
Creative Communities Grant. This scheme will support amateur arts and community led creative projects with awards of up to £3,000. These may include community festivals, local cultural celebrations or capital investment in cultural resources. The grants are designed to enable communities to come together through creative endeavour. Applicants must apply for these grants by April 28.
Small Arts Grants. These grants, of up to £2,000, will continue to be utilised for amateur and professional artists to undertake arts led projects which directly benefit residents. Assessment will be made on the quality of arts engagement. Small grants target artists and organisations who may not have made an application before, or want to deliver a smaller scale project. The next deadline is April 28.

The two drop-in sessions where local arts groups can find out more about the grants and discuss their ideas and projects will be held at Tara Arts, 356 Garratt Lane between 4pm and 6pm on Tuesday, April 8 and on Tuesday, June 24 between 4pm and 6pm at the Robing Room in the Wandsworth Civic Suite, which is part of the town hall complex in Wandsworth High Street.
