Wandsworth Volunteer Police Cadets Win Prestigious Community Award

Recognised for their " selfless commitment to community work"

On Tuesday 5 April 2011 Wandsworth Volunteer Police Cadets (VPC) attended the Town Hall where they were presented with the 'Group Award' by the Wandsworth Young Person of the Year Award panel.

The Cadets were singled out for this award for their "selfless commitment to community work". The award was presented by the Mayor of Wandsworth in front of Councillors, MPs and other award winners.

Lead for Youth Engagement on Wandsworth Borough, Inspector Gill Martin said:
"Winning the 'Young Person of the Year award 2011' was recognition by the community of Wandsworth for the activities of our Cadets.

He continued:
"All our young people take part in many community based events with one goal: to help the people of Wandsworth. They assist in such a wide number of community based events, giving their time freely and cheerfully. Two former cadets have also recently become members of the MPS Special Constabulary, one of whom has returned as a Wandsworth VPC Leader, demonstrating their continued commitment to the scheme. It was a proud moment for all when the VPC won the group award for 2011."
