Wandsworth officers use the ‘Find My iPhone’ app to track down a stolen phone

A male was arrested in Wandsworth Town on the Wednesday 22nd of August 2012 following reports of a theft of an iPhone in a cafe.

Police were called by the victim who had been in a cafe when he realised that his phone had been taken from the table.

The victim was able to provide police with his iphone details, whilst the staff who witnessed the theft were able to provide an initial description of the suspect. PC Jeremy Hayward and PC Dan Swain from Wandsworth Robbery Squad quickly responded and were able to track the iphone’s location using an iPad.

The phone was on the move in Wandsworth and the officers, one on foot and one following in a vehicle were able to identify the suspect and detain him prior to him boarding a bus. When searched the male was found in possession of the victims phone.
