East Putney SNT Make Drugs Arrest

Following reports of anti-social behaviour & smell of cannabis

On Friday 27 January 2012 officers from East Putney Safer Neighbourhoods Team along with the assistance of officers from other Putney sector teams attended an address in Whitnell Way SW15 in order to execute a search warrant under the Misuse of Drugs Act which resulted in an arrest for Possession With Intent to Supply a class B drug; cannabis.

Information was received by officers at East Putney Safer Neighbourhoods Team that an address was a concern as there was an ongoing Anti Social Behaviour problem and the smell of cannabis was constantly emanating from the address. This information was supported by previous police intelligence. A visit to the locality by officers confirmed the suspicion of the smell and its likely source.

A Search warrant was obtained and executed in the early hours. There were two occupants were present.  A police dog trained to recover / identify drugs gave an indication of the
presence of drugs in one of the bedrooms. A search revealed several bags and a container of herbal cannabis. Other paraphernalia and scales were also present.

A male was arrested for Possession With Intent to Supply Cannabis and later charged with Possession of Cannabis.

PC Barry Hawkins of East Putney SNT said: “This was a really good result for us. It helps to reassure the public that we will act upon information given to us and that we will not tolerate drug supply on the ward. This result will reassure and instill confidence to the residents that the East Putney team are committed to ensuring crime is reduced on the ward”.
