not for very much longer......
Following the loss of the second post in Putney and Tooting it is now
the turn of Wandsworth residents to see the withdrawal of the late morning
delivery.
Post Office bosses have told the council that the service from the Twilley
Street depot has been scrapped with immediate effect.
The second delivery has now been removed in more than 1,000 of the nation's
1,400 delivery offices.
Deputy council leader Maurice Heaster said:
"This comes as no surprise. Many people can't even remember the last
time they had a second delivery.
"Only last week it was revealed in the local press that SW11 had
the worst record for postal thefts in the country. This has been attributed
to the pattern for later single deliveries."
