All change for primary admissions

with new forms allowing multiple applications

Parents of children due to start in the reception class at a Wandsworth primary school in September 2006 will be able to apply to up to four schools using the same form.

The new arrangements will affect children born between September 1, 2001 and August 31, 2002.

Parents will be asked to list up to four schools in order of preference.   Parents will receive the offer from the highest-ranked school able to allocate a place.

The form must be returned to the council by January 20, 2006. Offers will be posted on the same day - March 17, 2006.

Church schools may require parents to complete their own form and provide details of the family's church attendance. In these cases parents must still include the school on the list they send to the council.

Children not receiving an offer from a school on their list will be placed on the waiting list for those schools.

A booklet explaining the new arrangements will be available from schools and nurseries in September 2005. The information will also be published on the council's website.

Applications for nursery class places will continue to be made directly to the school.
