Man Hit By Train Between Putney and Wandsworth


Death is not being treated as suspicious by police

A man has died after being hit by a train this Tuesday (9 June) between Putney and Wandsworth.

The fatality occurred some time before 1.45pm when police were called to Wandsworth Town station along with paramedics. The victim was pronounced dead at the scene. Police are working to identify him and inform his family. The death is being not being treated as suspicious.

Local train lines were closed after the death but reopened at 3.30pm although knock on delays resulted.

A British Transport Police spokesman said, “Our officers were called to Wandsworth Town railway station on Tuesday, 9 June, to reports of a person being struck by a train. The report came into police shortly before 1.45pm. Officers attended the scene alongside paramedics from the London Ambulance Service, but a man was pronounced dead at the scene."

A South West Trains spokesman said, “Our first thoughts are with the family of the person involved."
