Waterloo Electrical Fault Leads To Major Service Disruption

Hounslow Loop service cancelled and other services diverted

The Hounslow Loop train service provided by South Western Railway was non-operational due to an electrical problem at Waterloo. The disruption is expected to continue until the end of Wednesday (17 July).

Due to a problem with a track circuit maintained by Network Rail some lines were blocked. Train services running to and from Waterloo were cancelled, delayed or revised. The Hounslow Loop serves stations such as Chiswick, Brentford and Kew Bridge. Services at stations such as Putney and Wandsworth Town were also reduced.

The track circuits in question effected platforms 16-24 at London Waterloo. Services using these platforms run to/from Windsor, Reading, and via Hounslow / Richmond / Kingston.

Network Rail, who own and maintain the railway infrastructure, have been advised of this issue and their engineers worked to rectify the problem.

South Western Railway say they are very sorry for any delay that this may have caused to your journey.
