Local London Assembly Members Pushes For Driverless Tubes

Richard Tracey says “Tube drivers’ strike proves urgent need for driverless trains”

GLA Conservatives’ transport spokesman, & LA Member for Merton & Wandsworth, Richard Tracey said this morning that news of five days of Tube strikes proves the need for driverless trains.

Mr Tracey said:
“These strikes are a turbo-charged example of why it is absolutely vital that London gets a driverless Underground as soon as possible. Not only would driverless trains mean that the capital is no longer held to ransom by union militants.

“But also, with a driverless system a red light would not be passed by a train. It would be a safer system. You couldn’t ask for a finer example of the need to drive the Underground into the 21st century than this.

“So I will continue to urge Boris to push ahead with the introduction of driverless technology with all speed.”
