Train and tube services affected by engineering works

If you are planning to travel over the next few weekends the following lines are affected by engineering works.

District Line

Wednesday 28, Thursday 29 December (all day) and Friday 30 December (until 2130 only)

No service between Gloucester Road / High Street Kensington and Wimbledon / Kensington Olympia / Richmond / Acton Town. This is to allow for track and drainage replacement in the Earl's Court area. A special train service operates between Upminster and Edgware Road (via Victoria) and between Acton Town and Ealing Broadway. Piccadilly line trains call additionally at Ravenscourt Park, Stamford Brook (westbound only) and Turnham Green. Replacement buses operate.

Replacement buses operateService A: Hammersmith - Putney Bridge - East Putney - Southfields - Wimbledon Park - WimbledonService B: Earl's Court - West Brompton - Fulham Broadway - Parsons Green - Putney Bridge -Wimbledon. Some early and late journeys operate to/from South Kensington for connections with District line trains.Service C: (Boxing Day) Turnham Green - Chiswick Park - Gunnersbury - Kew Gardens - RichmondFor Richmond and Kew Gardens from 27 to 30 December, please use London Overground services between Richmond and Gunnersbury or local London Buses Route 391 for connections with the Piccadilly line at Turnham Green or Ravenscourt Park After 0030 each night, a replacement bus service will operate Ravenscourt Park - Stamford Brook - Turnham Green - Gunnersbury - Kew Gardens - Richmond.

Saturday 31 December, Sunday 1 and Monday 2 January

No service between Earls Court and Kensington Olympia as part of a reduced Bank Holiday service.

South West Trains

Wednesday 28 December and Thursday 29 December

South West Trains will run a revised Saturday timetable on these days. There will be some alterations to fit in with other operators who may be running a different level of service and to provide extra services for those travelling to work on these days.

The Great Western Main Line into Paddington will be closed all day for major route improvement work. Because of this closure of London Paddington, South West trains will be running extra services between London Waterloo and Reading for much of the day and in order to provide trains and crew for these a revised timetable will apply for all services which normally pass through Staines .

The following service alterations will apply on these days until late morning (about 11am) and from mid afternoon to mid evening (about 3pm to 8pm).

  • Four trains an hour will run between London Waterloo and Reading via Staines. Use this link for timetable London Waterloo to Reading.
  • A revised train service will run between London Waterloo and Windsor & Eton Riverside . Trains will make extra stops and will run via Brentford and Hounslow. Trains from London Waterloo will start earlier than normal.

  • There will be no through train service between London Waterloo and Weybridge via Staines . A shuttle train service will run between Virginia Water and Weybridge, calling at Chertsey and Addlestone. Passengers should use other altered train services between London Waterloo and Virginia Water.

A near normal Saturday service will run on these routes in the middle of the day until mid afternoon and from mid evening.

There is no major engineering work planned in the South West Trains area and a near normal Saturday timetable will run on other routes on these days.

New Year's Eve- Saturday 31 December

South West Trains will operate a revised Saturday service. A special service will operate after midnight for New Year’s Day celebrations.

New Year's Day - Sunday 1 January 2017

South West Trains will operate a revised Sunday service with changes as shown below.
Extra trains will run on the following routes during the early hours of New Year’s Day for revellers travelling home from the New Year celebrations in Central London.
• London Waterloo to Kingston via Wimbledon
• London Waterloo to Kingston via Richmond and Twickenham
• London Waterloo to Guildford via Woking
• London Waterloo to Basingstoke

Once the special New Year service has run, part of London Waterloo will be closed and some lines between London Waterloo and Clapham Junction.

-Long distance services and suburban services which normally pass through Wimbledon will run to a near normal timetable on the lines which remain open.
-All services which normally pass through Twickenham, Hounslow or Staines will not run between London Waterloo and Clapham Junction. The extra afternoon and evening services to and from Kingston via Hounslow will not run.
-Passengers travelling from Clapham Junction to Vauxhall and London Waterloo should use train services from platform 10.
-Queenstown Road station will have no service and passengers should use other stations nearby.

Monday 2 January 2017

South West Trains will run a Saturday timetable, revised for engineering work.

Part of London Waterloo  will be closed all day today and some lines between London Waterloo and Clapham Junction.

-Long distance services and suburban services which normally pass through Wimbledon will run to a near normal Saturday timetable on the lines which remain open.

-All services which normally pass through Twickenham, Hounslow or Staines  will not run between London Waterloo and Clapham Junction.

-The circular service to and from London Waterloo via Brentford  and via Twickenham  will not run. Passengers use other train services.

-Passengers travelling from Clapham Junction to Vauxhall and London Waterloo should use train services from platform 10.

- Queenstown Road  station will have no service

Wednesday 28, Thursday 29 December, all day, and until 9.30pm Friday 30 December

No service between Aldgate and Gloucester Road (via Victoria) while track and drainage replacement is carried out in the Earl's Court area. A special District line service operates between Edgware Road and Upminster (via Victoria).

Saturday 31 December

No service between Rayners Lane and Uxbridge, use Metropolitan line services instead.
