Flying Squad have charged the man with conspiracy to commit robbery

Detectives from the Met’s Flying Squad have charged Abdirahman Mohomad Omar from St John's Drive in Earlsfield with conspiracy to commit robbery. These charges follow the arrest of two men on Monday, 3 December in Lacock Close, Wimbledon in which another man was shot by police. The 23-year-old was due to appear at Wimbledon Magistrate's Court yesterday.

A second 23-year-old who was shot remains at hospital still under arrest for conspiracy to rob.

The incident happened at about 8.10am on Monday morning in Lacock Close near Haydons Road. It is understood the men had been aiming to rob a cash transit van near the Sainsbury store in Haydon Road SW19.

During the course of the Met's "proactive operation" the second man was shot by police and taken by ambulance to hospital. His condition is not said to be life-threatening.

The Police added that, "The Met's Director of Professional Standards have been informed. The Independent Office for Police Conduct has launched an independent investigation."
