Wandsworth Welcomes New Mayor

Cllr Nicola Nardelli has been sworn in as the new Mayor of Wandsworth

Mayor Nardelli first moved to the borough in 1983 and was elected to the council in 2005, representing Queenstown Ward in north Battersea. She has served on the housing committee and the former environment, leisure and community safety committee.

The new Mayor has pledged to raise money to help and support local people who suffer from dyslexia and for charity RAPt (the Rehabilitation for Addicted Prisoners Trust) which works to help Wandsworth Prison inmates overcome drug and alcohol dependence.

Among her duties as Wandsworth’s ‘First Citizen’ will be leading three competitions aimed at inspiring local young people - young chef of the year, young designer of the year and young grower of the year.

Mayor Nardelli said:
“It’s an honour to serve as Wandsworth’s Mayor. I’m looking forward to representing the council in the year ahead and meeting many more of the fantastic people, businesses and voluntary groups who make this borough such a special place. I also want to play my part in helping to promote the brighter borough as a great place to do business, to visit and to invest.”
