Local Online Radio Station Celebrates One Year

Wandsworth Radio marks first year on air with new project ‘The World in Wandsworth’

“It’s been an incredible experience launching and running a local radio station for Wandsworth," says Wandsworth Radio Station Director and BBC Radio London presenter Jason Rosam.

“We’ve had over 200 brilliant volunteers creating a diverse mix of music, art, comedy, drama and speech based radio shows and local news and sport coverage. I’m extremely proud of the volunteers for working so hard this year to establish the station as part of the community and fulfilling our aim of celebrating our borough.”

In its first year Wandsworth Radio has had over 35,000 unique listens to the station since launching on January 12th 2015. Every month around 3,500 people tune in to the station online at WandsworthRadio.com and on the TuneIn radio listening app for smart phones and tablets.

The station is dedicated to celebrating the entire borough of Wandsworth broadcasting local news, music, interviews with residents, local businesses, local politicians and highlights the arts and culture offer in the area.

To celebrate the first year on air Jason Rosam is launching ‘The World in Wandsworth’ project.

“Wandsworth boasts one of the most diverse populations in the UK. We want to celebrate this by highlighting the people who come from all over the world but have chosen to make Wandsworth their home.”

If you are a resident of Wandsworth and you were born outside the UK Wandsworth Radio would like to speak to you. You’ll be interviewed by one of the stations volunteers and your photograph taken to form part of a special page on the radio station website which aims to document all the nationalities in the borough.

If you want to take part please email World@WandsworthRadio.com

Wandsworth Radio is always looking for volunteers to be part of the station especially in the news team. The station would like to talk to any local people who are interested in journalism and would like to feature in the nightly live news programme 'Wandsworth Tonight'.
