Spotted A New Building That Impressed You?

Nominate it for Wandsworth Design Awards 2015

The council has launched its annual competition to find the borough’s best designed buildings.

This year’s Wandsworth Design Awards is now underway and local residents and community groups are being asked to nominate their favourite new buildings and those that make a positive contribution to the local environment.

Entries need to have innovative, high-quality designs and to have been completed since January 1st 2013.

The aim of the competition is to recognise and promote new buildings and spaces that demonstrate excellence in sustainable design and construction and encourage architects, developers and house builders to highlight their ‘green’ credentials.

The competition also incorporates the Wandsworth Access Awards which aims to encourage architects and builders to come up with innovative, intelligent and inclusive designs that fully meet the needs of people with disabilities.

Nominations can be made for all types of development, including:

  • Access to buildings – improved provision for people with disabilities
  • Residential extensions (including loft extensions)
  • Restoration/conversion projects (including schemes which introduce new uses to older buildings)
  • Offices and Shopfronts (new or restored)
  • New buildings
  • Public spaces
  • Landscape projects including front gardens
  • Sustainable buildings/spaces

The winners will be selected by a panel of judges comprising councillors as well as the borough’s design and heritage champions, local architects, representatives of the Wandsworth Design Review Panel, local amenity societies and the Wandsworth Access Association. An awards ceremony will be held in 2016.

Entry forms can be downloaded from the website and returned by post. Nominations must be made by September 30th. For more information about the awards or to request a nomination form call (020) 8871 7564.
