Mince Pies To Fight Poverty

Win mince pies from UK's best chefs & raise money for Kids Company and FoodCycle

Spread the festive cheer a little differently this year with The Mince Pie Project, a mince pie auction and raffle featuring baked delights from the UK’s leading chefs, to raise funds for two extremely worthy charities, FoodCycle and Kids Company.

The Mince Pie Project returns for its third year, after raising an amazing £30,000 last Christmas, bringing with it a new and exciting line-up of top chefs who will each create two boxes of signature mince pies of their own design.  One box will be auctioned to the highest bidder; the second box will be put up for raffle, in which anyone can get involved with a £2 donation per ticket.

The caliber of chefs for this year’s Mince Pie Project is set to surpass previous years participants, with the likes of Michel Roux Jr, Michael Caines, Marcus Wareing, Tom Aikens and Raymond Blanc already confirmed, with over 100 set to be involved.

Michel Roux Jr says:
‘It’s exciting to be involved in The Mince Pie Project again this year. It’s a unique project involving creativity and healthy competition to raise money for a great cause during the festive season.’

We all know just how competitive chefs can be and part of the fun of The Mince Pie Project will be seeing which chef’s mince pies can raise the most money and come top of the leaderboard. Last year, Dan Doherty took the crown, raising a staggering £1,900 for his box of gingerbread-flavoured mince pies.

Each chef will create a box of signature mince pies of their own design, which will then be submitted for an online auction, beginning at noon on 6th December and ending at noon on 13th December.

Previous mince pie marvels have included a deep fried mince pie, the use of sweet potato mincemeat, earl grey and bergamot pastry, and a mince pie macaron, so those bidding are most definitely in for a gastronomic treat to share with loved ones.

This year, The Mince Pie Project has decided to name Food Cycle and Kids Company as its two charities, to which all proceeds from the project will go.
