Supermarket Helps You Quit Smoking

As ASDA opens pop up clinics

For the next two months the council stop smoking team will be available to provide information and support at quick and convenient drop-in clinics in Asda stores at Clapham Junction and Roehampton. Anyone can just pop in (no appointment necessary) while they shop and benefit from the free advice available.

Go along to:

  • Asda Roehampton, Roehampton Vale, every Saturday from January 11 to March 1, 12noon – 5pm
  • Asda Clapham Junction, every Sunday from January 12 to March 2, 12noon – 4pm

National research shows that a few people manage to quit smoking on their own, but there is very good evidence that with local professional support, you are 4 times more likely to successfully quit smoking. Last year 1526 people received support to stop smoking with the Wandsworth stop smoking service.

The council is leading on implementing a five-year tobacco control plan, including enforcement action against retailers that continue to sell tobacco to children, as well as practical support to help people quit through its Stop Smoking service.

The Wandsworth Tobacco Control Alliance is on track to cut smoking rates in the borough by three per cent by 2015.
