A Letter To The Editor

London Assembly Member for Merton & Wandsworth  writes on policing

Dear Editor

There will be almost 1,000 more police officers at the end of Boris Johnson’s first term than there were at the start.

Since 2008 visible single police patrols have increased by over 50%. There are now more than 120,000 more patrols than there were three years ago.

There has been an almost 60% rise in the number of special constables; 400 additional transport police to keep the travelling public safe.

And the Mayor is now hacking away at police bureaucracy so that more resources are sent to the front line.

This is why crime is falling and Boris is making London safer.

Yours sincerely
