Free Construction Recruitment Day

For Wandsworth residents interested in a career in the industry

The council’s Work Match team will host a ‘Construction Recruitment Day’ at South Thames College on Thursday 1 May.

WHEN: 12pm – 7pm, Thursday 1 May, 2014

WHERE: South Thames College, Wandsworth High Street, London, SW18 2PP

This free event is for Wandsworth residents interested in a career in the construction industry. Local people with all levels of experience are welcome.

There will be information about trainee and starter roles for residents who have never worked on site before, as well as opportunities for highly experienced tradespeople.

Visitors are being asked to bring proof of address with them on the day as well as a copy of an existing CV if they have one.

A spokesman for the council’s Work Match team said: "There are several major construction sites in Wandsworth which are now going into the ‘fit-out’ stage when most of the starter roles, traineeships and apprenticeships will be created.

“Many of these opportunities are reserved for Wandsworth residents so it’s a great time to get into the industry or to restart your career.

“If you’re already working in construction then you should still come along to this event as we could line-up a new role which meets your career ambitions.

“Come along on May 1st and it could be the first step towards a new job and rewarding career.”

Work Match is the council’s local recruitment team. They help unemployed Wandsworth residents get into all sorts of jobs – not just in construction.
