De Morgan Inspired Ceramics & Vibrant Hand-made Textiles

Luxurious fabrics and striking ceramics are to be shown together in a colourful exhibition for the festive season at the De Morgan Centre, Wandsworth.

Two highly respected artists who both use traditional techniques will have their work on display. The show is a visual treat, but also might be just the place to find that unusual gift needed for a discerning relative or friend. 

Potter Lawrence McGowan’s pieces  are decorated with lively plant and animal forms that echo the work of William De Morgan and the Arts and Crafts Movement. Drawing from the rich history of Islamic decorative arts, some pieces also incorporate calligraphy.

Local weaver Bobbie Kociejowski produces scarves, shawls and ties that are alive with colour and texture. Using silk, linen and fine wool, each piece is entirely hand-woven, hand-finished and dyed to her exacting standards. The end result is a unique piece of wearable art destined to become a family heirloom.

Entrance to the Christmas show is free. Prices range from £30 to £350.
