Local Charity Gets Sneak Preview of 3D Film "Despicable Me!"

Take your family or sponsor a family to go

Local family charity Family Action is going where no local charity has gone before by showing a film at the Covent Garden Odeon.

On 10th October at 11.15 am they’re going into the film business and giving local people the chance to support local families by taking part in a preview screening of Universal’s new 3D film Despicable Me. And not only can you treat yourself and your family to a preview of the top kids’ film but Family Action is also offering the opportunity for you to sponsor one of the disadvantaged families it works with in London and throughout England to see the film too. All the proceeds go to Family Action’s work in helping disadvantaged families overcome their problems.

Despicable Me is Family Action’s first foray into preview film screenings and the fundraising event will go towards helping the vulnerable families which Family Action specialises in working with. Family Action has been a leading provider of services for disadvantaged and socially isolated families since 1869. The charity works with over 45,000 families and children a year by providing practical, emotional and financial support through over 100 community based projects across England including services in Putney & Wandsworth.

Despicable Me pits a dastardly criminal Gru (voiced by Steve Carell – star of the US version of The Office) against three orphaned little girls Margo, Edith and Agnes. Other stars involved in the film include Russell Brand and Julie Andrews. It’s been a real hit in the US with families opening at No. 1 in U.S. and Canadian box office bringing in $54.6 million in ticket sales for Universal Pictures.

The Family Action Despicable Me preview is taking place on Sunday 10th October at the Odeon, Covent Garden. Tickets are £10 for children and £15 for adults. There’ll be a goody bag for every family who support the event and buffet treats on the day.
