& found out more about proposed changes to stroke and major trauma services in Wandsworth
On Thursday 26 March 2009 over 200 visitors completed the questionnaire at the stand with a member of NHS Wandsworth staff and another 150 people took a copy of the consultation document and questionnaire away with them.
NHS Wandsworth staff handed out 750 get the right treatment bags filled with local health information like when to use a pharmacist, how to find a doctor and dentist and how you can choose which hospital is best for you.
Scores of people took advantage of the free fruit on offer to get one step closer to eating their five-a-day, one healthy living step that can help reduce your risk of stroke by 25%. Others took the time to talk to the public health specialists on hand about exercising more, stopping smoking and drinking less. 30 young people also peed in a pot for the chalmydia screening team.
Hazel Soin-Stanley, NHS Wandsworth Director for Planning & Performance Strategy said:
“It was fantastic to see so many people come along especially to talk to the local NHS about the consultation and to give their feedback, and I am over the moon that so many people who didn’t know about Healthcare for London before seeing our stand took a real interest. People were really pleased to be able to talk to us about the health issues that matter to them in what was a really friendly and relaxed environment.”
