Do You Want To Be A Record Breaker?

Be part of a Christmas Carolling World Record attempt

Organisers of a community-led Carolling World Record Attempt are calling on the people of SW London to warm up their vocal chords and join the world’s largest Christmas Carolling Group on Sunday 13th December!

More than 2,000 ‘Carollers’ are needed in order to help break the current World Record, which is currently held by a group in Wisconsin, USA.

The event is being arranged by local Fulham residents in partnership with charities Action for Happiness and the Charlie Waller Memorial Trust. The World Record attempt will spread Christmas cheer for participants of all ages, whilst raising awareness of the hardships faced by many people around the festive period.

Event organiser Julian Hay, from Walham Grove, said:
“The Carolling World Record Attempt has the community at its core, bringing together people young and old to spread some Christmas happiness at what can be a tough time of the year. We need 2,000 ‘Carollers’ to help set a new World Record so urge families and friends to show how much they care about their community by signing up for what promises to be a fantastic afternoon of Christmas celebrations!”

Carollers are asked to register now at Eventbrite.co.uk (search for Carolling World Record Attempt) and meet on Eel Brook Common, Fulham, from 3pm on Sunday December 13th. Charity donations are welcome, but participation for all ages is FREE. Registration will also be open on the day.

Clare Stafford is Chief Executive of the Charlie Waller Memorial Trust, which supports depression sufferers. She said:
“We are delighted to be involved with the World Record Carolling Attempt. Not only will it be a great feel-good event, it is also an opportunity to bring people together at what can be a lonely time of year.”

Action for Happiness Director Mark Williamson said: “Our work is all about improving wellbeing and creating happier neighbourhoods and communities. The Carolling World Record Attempt is a great example of what can be achieved when people get together to make something good happen. We look forward to trying to set a new World Record and, more importantly, being part of this fun and memorable occasion."

The current Carolling World Record of 1,822 is held by the Waukesha Downtown Business Association (USA) in Waukesha, Wisconsin on 22 November 2013.

Rules state the Official Record Attempt requires a minimum of 10 different carols at 10 doors on a minimum of two roads. Registration will start from 3pm and the attempt will be complete by 5pm.
