Runway Works Affect Night Flight Pattern

More aircraft noise for north of borough from 4.30-6am

For the next seven months most of Heathrow’s night flights will land on the southern runway while the northern landing strip is being resurfaced.

This means residents living under the southern runway flight path are now experiencing more aircraft noise than usual between 4.30am and 6am.

The project is expected to last until the end of October 2014.

The southern flight path cuts across Battersea, Wandsworth Town and Putney.

Heathrow says the work is essential and can’t take place during the day because the airport is too busy.

Both runways will be used on Friday and Saturday nights so residents should expect the usual respite routine at weekends.

Daytime flights are not affected by the work so normal day-time respite routines will remain in place.
