Get Paid For Being Green

Green Grants up for grabs - apply now if you are eco friendly

Applications for the next round of Wandsworth council’s Eco Fund grant scheme are now being accepted. The Eco Fund is available to individuals and groups in the borough that can demonstrate good ways to become greener.

The council will give a share of the £5000 grant pot to people who can think of a way to reduce waste, increase recycling, cut the consumption of energy or resources, or improve the quality of the local environment.

The scheme must be something that can be copied by others, and successful applicants will be expected to demonstrate its effectiveness and post regular updates on the Project Dirt website.

Examples could include buying a wood chipper to be shared between a group of neighbours, starting a community composting scheme or organising 'give and take' exchange days so that unwanted items are given away instead of binned.

Successful applications so far have included shared composting equipment for the Roehampton University halls of residence, a school composting scheme and a community woodchipper shared by members of the Roehampton Garden Society.

The deadline for entries is February 14, 2011.
