Museum company holds first meeting

Dorothy Hintze elected chairman of the new Wandsworth Museum company

The appointment was made at the first board meeting of the new company on July 11th 2007. Cllr Stuart Thom, the current Mayor of Wandsworth, will be company secretary.

The new company is working towards an opening date in April 2008 for the new independently-run museum which will be housed in the current West Hill library building.

Negotiations with the council on a lease for the premises and a lending agreement for the artefacts will now get under way with a report expected to councillors in September.

The new board also agreed to move forward on the draft business plan.

The Hintze Family Charitable Foundation has offered £2m towards the setting up and running of the new museum.
