More Recycling 'Golden Tickets' Being Delivered

A chance to win £5,000 when you recycle your rubbish

A second batch of Golden Tickets is being delivered to Wandsworth homes this week, along with the chance win five thousand pounds.

To be in with a chance of winning, fill in your contact details on the front of the Golden Tickets and pop them in your clear recycling bags. If your ticket is found at the recycling facility it will be entered for the next prize draw.

The Golden Ticket competition is run by the Western Riverside Waste Authority (WRWA), which is responsible for managing waste disposal and sorting the mixed recycling collected across the London boroughs of Hammersmith and Fulham, Lambeth, Wandsworth and the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea.

WRWA has been awarded a government grant for the competition to help give residents of the four boroughs extra motivation to recycle more - and recycle correctly.

Wandsworth council welcomed the Golden Ticket prize draw because every extra item recycled saves council tax payers’ money. Increasing recycling by just one per cent would save around £110,000 a year.

So far one lucky Tooting resident has won £5k, and three local groups shared the community prize. The winners of the second draw held in December will be announced later this month, with two further draws in February and March.

To be in with a chance of winning, put your contact details on a golden ticket and pop it into a clear sack or mixed recycling bank with clean recycling.  Tickets can also be collected from libraries, leisure centres, the housing department reception in Putney Bridge Road and Wandsworth Town Hall.

Recycling bags and bins must contain only clean and dry items that are suitable for recycling. Find out what can be recycled
