Putney High School Celebrates GCSE Results


Girls triumph, particularly in Languages and Sciences

Putney High School is today celebrating its GCSE results, with 82 per cent of entries achieving A* or A grades.

Half of girls secured at least 10 A* or A grades, and one fifth earned at least 11 A* or As. Three girls achieved 12 A* or As.

Every entry for Chinese earned an A* grade – equalling last year’s success. Overall in Languages, more than 80 per cent of entries achieved A* or A grade, with Classical Greek appearing alongside more traditional subjects such as French, Spanish and Latin. All German entries received an A* or A grade.

Putney reported 85 per cent A* and A grade passes in the three sciences, with more than half of science entries achieving A*.

Other subjects achieving outstanding results included Drama (96 per cent A* or A); Religious Studies (94 per cent); Music (92 per cent) and English (89 per cent).
At Putney, more than 97 per cent of entries achieved A* - B grades.

Headmistress Dr Denise Lodge said:
“The results are testament to the hard work and dedication of students and staff. The students now can’t wait to start their A Level studies in our state-of-the-art new Sixth Form Centre.”
