Celebrate The Queen's 90th With A Street Party

Over 70 parties already planned and you can apply online to close off your road

Her Majesty The Queen’s actual birthday was on April 21st, but the official birthday celebration will be held on Saturday June 11th when this year’s Trooping the Colour takes place at Horse Guards Parade.

If local residents wish to mark the historic royal milestone by organising a street party, all the information that’s required to arrange a road closure can be submitted online via an internet questionnaire. There will be a £50 charge to cover the council’s costs of making the legal arrangements.

Borough residents are already hosting over 70 street parties, topping the 67 that were held across Wandsworth to celebrate the 2011 royal wedding.

Residents must bear in mind that there are some streets that cannot be closed for a party. These

These include main roads whose closure would create too much congestion in the area, Transport for London controlled red routes, or those which are part of a bus route.

To find out more about street closures and to apply online go to www.wandsworth.gov.uk/streetparties. Organisers can also call (020) 8871 6712 or email streetworks@wandsworth.gov.uk for advice.
