Don't Lose Your Right To Vote

Respond asap to your electoral register form online or by post

All households in Wandsworth have been sent a form asking them to check that the information held on the electoral register about the people living in their home is correct.

A large number of households have yet to respond and could face a visit from council staff and a £1000 fine.

The form has been sent out as part of the council’s annual voter registration canvass. It's been two years since many residents have been asked to complete a household registration form. It's also the first canvass since the start of Individual Electoral Registration in which each person is required to register to vote individually rather than by household. The aim is to make sure the electoral register is up to date and to identify any residents who are not registered so that they can be encouraged to do so.

If people do not register they could also lose their vote in next year’s London Mayoral elections and the European referendum due to be held some time before 2017. Being on the electoral register can also improve your credit score. British, Irish, Commonwealth and European Union citizens can register.

Residents can also now complete the form online. For any queries or questions visit www.wandsworth.gov.uk/vote, email electoral@wandswortSeptember 14, 201523.
