19 Year Old Student Raped In Kingston


Police appeal for information following an arrest

Detectives investigating the rape of a woman in Kingston have arrested a 21-year-old man from Kingston in connection with the investigation, and are trying to trace two taxi drivers who may have information that could assist them.

The victim, a 19-year-old woman, reported being raped in Kingston University accommodation in the early hours of Thursday, 12 November.

Beforehand she is believed to have been travelling with a male passenger in a white coloured taxi from Pryzm nightclub in Clarence Street to Portland Road in Kingston at just after 2.30 am.

The victim is described as white with ginger hair and was wearing a black dress, and the man with her is described as middle eastern and in his 20s, with short black hair. He was wearing a black jumper.

Officers would also like to locate a second taxi driver, who drove a silver coloured taxi and picked up the victim and two other women outside the Metro Bank in Eden Street, Kingston earlier on Wednesday, 11 November at about 11.45pm. They were driven to the Pryzm nightclub after making a slight detour to one of their homes to fetch ID.

Police are keen to identify both the taxi drivers. The have also bailed the 21-year-old who was arrested, to return on a date in February pending further enquiries.

Detectives from the Sexual Offences Exploitation and Child Abuse Command are investigating.
