New Year Honours in Wandsworth

Head of Learning and Skills at Wandsworth Prison gets an MBE

David Asker received an MBE in the Queen’s New Year Honours list for 2011 for his work at Wandsworth Prison.

Mr Asker is Head of Learning and Skills at the prison, and his work includes offering prisoners further education and training which can be of use when they are released.

He recently told The Custodial Review about the far-reaching benefits of Learning and Skills: “We have noticed at Wandsworth that it improved relationships between staff and prisoners, not just in the training centres, but that mood has been taken back onto the wings. We have found it helps prisoners and staff to work together better.”
