Wimbledon Choral Society's Summer Concert

Anthem Fest at Holy Trinity Church, Wandsworth

Wimbledon Choral Society’s Summer Concert – Anthem Fest – takes place at Holy Trinity Church in Beaumont Road, Wandsworth, on Saturday 10 June.

Having started the season with music from French Gothic masters Durufle and Vierne, and paid a visit to the majesty of Monteverdi in a more recent concert, they finish their season in a completely different manner by performing a feast of short anthems by predominantly British composers, past and present - an AnthemFest Prom - containing many favourites sung by cathedral and church choirs across the world:

  • Handel : Zadok the Priest
  • Britten : Jubilate in C
  • Wesley : Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace
  • Stanford : Magnificat in G
  • Purcell : Hear my prayer, O Lord
  • Mendelssohn : Hear my Prayer (O for the wings of a dove)
  • MacMillan : O Radiant Dawn
  • Todd : Christus est stella
  • Ireland : Greater Love
  • Vaughan Williams : O taste and see
  • Bairstow : Let all mortal flesh keep silence
  • Howells : Like as the hart
  • Finzi : God is gone up
  • Parry : I was glad.

Tickets can be purchased through Eventbrite. Prices are £17.50 and £12.50 plus a small booking fee.

The concert runs from 6pm to around 7.30pm and there will be refreshments on sale afterwards in the church hall.
