Two Teens Charged With Murder in Charlotte Despard Avenue


46-year-old Brazilian national Iderval da Silva has been named as the victim



Police investigating the murder of a man in Charlotte Despard Avenue last week have charged two teenagers with his murder.

A 16-year-old appeared at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court on Friday (31 May) charged with murder and was remanded in custody to appear at the Old Bailey this week. The same evening (31 May) Jaden Richards, 19, of Strasburg Road in Wandsworth was also charged with murder annd will appear in custody at Wimbledon Magistrates’ Court this week.

The victim of the attack has been named as Brazilian national, Iderval da Silva, aged 46.

Police were called to Charlotte Despard Avenue at just after 4.30pm on Saturday 25 May and found Mr da Silve suffering a head injury. He was taken to hospital where sadly he died on Tuesday 28 May.

A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.

The murder investigation led by detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command continues.

Aother 16-year-old boy was arrested near to the scene on suspicion of grievous bodily harm on the day of the incident. He was taken to a west London police station and has been bailed to return on a date in early June pending further enquiries.
