Historic England Inspects Progress At Battersea Power Station

Battersea Power Station welcomed The Chairman of Historic England, Sir Laurie Magnus, and CEO Duncan Wilson to inspect progress on site last week.

Rob Tincknell, CEO, at Battersea Power Station Development Company (BPSDC) hosted the visit, to view the meticulous rebuild of the famous chimneys. The South West chimney is now fully rebuilt and the new North and South East chimneys are quickly re-emerging. The Power Station, which sits at the heart of the 42 acre development will open to the public in 2020, coinciding with the opening of a new Northern line tube station.

Rob Tincknell, CEO at BPSDC, said, “From the outset, everyone at Battersea Power Station has committed to safeguarding the Power Station’s distinctive profile for the enjoyment of future generations and our shareholders take their custodianship of this world-famous icon very seriously. We maintain a very close relationship with Historic England and work collaboratively with the team to deliver the detailed design of the project through the planning system.”

Duncan Wilson, CEO at Historic England, added, “We are excited by the progress that the team at Battersea are making. Seeing the chimneys come back up is a significant moment in the building’s regeneration. Their restoration sees the much-loved silhouette returning to London’s skyline.”

Battersea Power Station is owned by a Malaysian consortium comprising Sime Darby, S P Setia and EPF.
