Renewed Appeal Following Fatal Stabbing On Westbridge Road

One week on from the fatal stabbing of Lejean Richards, detectives will be returning to the scene to renew their appeal for witnesses to come forward.
Police were called to Wolsey Court, off Westbridge Road at 7.52pm on Tuesday 5 February to reports of a stabbing.
Lejean, aged 19, was found with stab injuries. Despite the efforts of paramedics, he died at the scene just after 8.30pm.
A post-mortem examination held on Wednesday 6 February gave cause of death as a stab wound to the chest.
Detective Chief Inspector Mick Norman, of the Homicide and Major Crime Command, said, "Although we have made three arrests, I would urge anyone with information to come forward and speak with us.
"We have established that there was an altercation at about 7.30pm that evening near to the basketball court off Randle Close on the Surrey Lane Estate. Did you see or hear this exchange?
"Approximately 15 minutes later, Lejean was fatally stabbed. At this early stage in the investigation, we are keeping an open mind about the motive of the attack. The stabbing took place close to a bus stop on Westbridge Road, opposite Wolsey Court, and it is believed the victim was attacked during an altercation involving a group of up to six people.
"We are working to establish whether these two incidents are linked."

Two men, aged 19 and 27, were arrested on suspicion of murder on Wednesday 6 February after presenting themselves at a central London hospital. They have since been released under investigation.
Another man - aged 20 - was also arrested on suspicion of murder. He has been released under investigation.
