Chivalry Road Playground Awarded £165k To Spend On Upgrades In Wandsworth SW18

Enable Leisure and Culture, who run Wandsworth's open spaces, is asking for people’s views on the best way to spend £165,000 earmarked for an upgrade of the Chivalry Road playground on Wandworth Common.

Staff from Enable are holding two drop-in sessions where residents can ask questions and find out more about the plans... simply go along to Ark Bolingbroke Academy, Wakehurst Road, SW11 6BF during the following times

• Wednesday, February 13 – 5.30pm to 7.30pm

• Saturday, March 2 – 12noon to 3pm

This time last year people were asked for their views on what type of equipment they would like to see. Based on the results, three designs have been developed, and now locals are invited to comment on which one they like best. Because the space is common land, there are strict guidelines on the style and height of the equipment and it will need to be sympathetic to the local area.

People can view the options and take part in the consultation by visiting haveyoursay.citizenspace.com (live from Monday February 11th)

If you would like a paper copy of the consultation questionnaire email consult@wandsworth.gov.uk or contact the parks office on (020) 3959 0060.

The consultation will close on Sunday, March 10.

The improvements are being funded by the Wandworth Local Fund, a charge the council puts on some developments to pay for the community infrastructure needed to support growth in the borough. Residents are encouraged to bring ideas for neighbourhood improvements to their ward councillors to be considered for funding, which must meet the criteria based on priorities set by local people.

Several playgrounds have already or will soon be, upgraded using WLF money, including Godley Gardens, St Mark’s, Battersea Park, Upper Tooting Park, Leaders Gardens, Garratt Park and Swaby Gardens.

There are also current consultations on two other playground improvement schemes. You can still have your say on upgrades to Falcon Park and Fred Wells Gardens in Battersea.
