Double Assault At Clapham Junction

Police appeal with CCTV image

British Transport Police (BTP) officers are appealing for information and witnesses to come forward after a man sustained a double jaw-fracture in an assault at Clapham Junction station.

Officers have released a CCTV image of man they wish to speak to following the incident, which happened on August 25th at 1.45am, at Brighton Yard entrance point at the station in St John’s Hill.

The 26-year-old victim, from Borehamwood in Hertfordshire, was assaulted in two separate attacks by another man. Detective Constable Rachel Smith said: “The offender made off from the scene after the first assault, but then returned some time later and attacked the victim again by punching him to the ground and fracturing his jaw.

“The attacker then left the scene and made off this time into St Johns Hill. I am keen to speak to the man pictured in the CCTV image as he may be able to help us in our investigation. I believe the attacker may have been bare-chested during one of the assaults.

"If you were in the area or witnessed the incident, please get in touch with BTP.”

Anyone with information is asked to contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40, or text 61016, quoting reference SSUB/B6 of 16/10/14. Information can also be passed anonymously to independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
