Female Cyclist Killed on Wandsworth Road

An appeal is being made for witness and dashcam footage to a collision on the Wandsworth Road in which a female cyclist was killed.

Detectives from the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for information following the death of Italian national, Giovanna Cappielloo, aged 29, who was a student and also worked as a waitress.

The police were called to the junction with Silverthorne Road, SW8 at 3.12pm on Thursday, 4 July. Giovanna had sufferied rom critical injuries after being hit by a lorry. She sadly died at the scene a short time later.

Her next of kin have been notified.

The driver of the lorry stopped at the scene and is assisting officers with their enquiries.

Detective Sergeant Steve Cannings of the Met’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit said, “It is vital that we put together an accurate picture of events surrounding this tragic incident. I am particularly keen to hear from anyone with dash-cam footage or who witnessed the incident first hand.”
