Another Collision at Notorious Battersea Bridge Junction


Female cyclist left with life-changing injuries after being hit by lorry

A year to the day after a man was killed by the junction of Battersea Bridge Road and Cheyne Walk, a female cyclists has been seriously injured at the same spot.

Shortly before 8.14am on Thursday, 13 January, the woman, who is in her thirties, was in a collision with a lorry.

An Air Ambulance was called and she was taken to hospital with injuries that are described as life-changing. Her next of kin have been told.

The driver of the lorry stopped at the scene.

Enquiries into the circumstances are ongoing and detectives from the Met's Serious Collision Investigation Unit would like to hear from any witnesses or drivers who were in the area at the time.

A year previously, 29-year-old Jack Ryan, was killed while jogging near the same spot. Following this incident, Transport for London reduced the speed limit on the road to 20mph and added a pedestrian crossing. A further redesign is being proposed at the junction with would include a stop area for cyclists. This is due to go out for consultation.
