Man Stabbed to Death on Ellerton Road

Police appeal for witnesses after 20-year-old was stabbed in the residential street

A 20-year-old man has been stabbed to death in Ellerton Road. Police were called on Sunday (1 April) at approximately 1:10am to reports of an injured man on the residential street and despite the best efforts of officers and paramedics the victim was pronounced dead at the scene at 1:55am.

His next-of-kin have been informed and a post mortem is under way.

A 21-year-old was arrested at the weekend on suspicion of murder but was released with no further action.

The Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating led by Detective Chief Inspector Mark Cranwell.

DCI Cranwell, said, "Sadly, another family has been left devastated with the tragic death of a young man from an act of violence. We are appealing to anyone who was in the area to come forward.

"We know that the victim left a bar in Garratt Lane, SW18 at 01.00hrs and then 12 minutes later he was found on Ellerton Road at the junction with Burntwood Lane.

"Did you see any vehicles or people acting suspiciously in this area at around 01:10hrs? Any information you hold, no matter how small, could prove vital to our investigation."
