Allfarthing Road altercation leads to death

Police are appealing for witnesses to a disturbance on Tuesday, 15th November 2005, outside VIRIFLORA florist on Allfarthing Lane, Wandsworth at 6pm.

An altercation occured, which involved a woman and two men following allegations that the woman had stolen from and assaulted one of the men.

During the altercation, a 77-year-old man, fell to the ground and London Ambulance Service took him to St George’s Hospital. Two police officers attended the scene at 6.30pm.

He was detained for treatment to a fractured hip. His condition deteriorated and on Saturday 26 November at 12:25pm he died.

The coroner has been informed and an inquest was opened and adjourned on Thursday, 1 December 2005.

A 37-year-old woman from Wandsworth was arrested on 15 November on suspicion of theft and assault and taken into custody to Wandsworth Police Station. She has been bailed to return on 23 January 2006.
